HEIGHTENED SECURITY AT AIRPORTS
The FAA has instituted increased
security measures at airports all across the United States.
These new measures are effective immediately for all flights
and will be in place until further notice:
· Passenger and baggage screening will be increased. Please
arrive at the airport a minimum of two hours prior to
departure for domestic flights and three hours for
international flights.
· There will be no curbside check-in nor off airport
checked baggage acceptance.
· All passengers must have a valid government issued photo
ID(valid driver's license, county/state/federal agency
employee ID, or Passport) for check-in. This ID may be
required to pass through security screening as well.
· Passengers with E-tickets will be required to have a
receipt from the airline or the travel agency in order to
gain access to the concourse. Without a paper ticket or
written confirmation, passengers will have to check-in at
the ticket counter and receive a boarding pass to proceed to
the departure gate area.
· Knives of any length or description will no longer be
allowed through the security checkpoint.
· Be prepared to have your carry-ons limited. A final
decision has not been made as to what they will or will not
allow.
· Boarding areas will be reserved for passengers only. Only
ticketed passengers will be allowed to proceed past airport
screeners to catch their flights.
· Sale of knife-like items banned at airport.
· Heightened vigilance for unattended bags.
· Passenger ID checks after check-in.
· Vehicles near airport terminals will be monitored more
closely
· Uniformed law enforcement and military presence at
airports increased.
· Random searches of service personnel, flight crews and
equipment.
Each airline and airport may have their own additional
security measures.
Just remember that the airlines will be safer than ever with
all of these new restrictions. Be patient and remember these
people at the airport are only following the instructions
set forth by the government and the FAA.
