This is the 2004 Itinerary to demonstrate the depth and variety of this tour. Watch for 2006 to be posted soon.


Day 1 Fri Depart San Francisco/Los Angeles

Day 2 Sat Arrive Bangkok. Overnight at the airport hotel.

Day 3 Sun Depart Bangkok for Kathmandu, capital of the Kingdom of Nepal. Transfer to the first class De L'Annapurna Hotel.
Special Welcome to Nepal dinner at a private restaurant tonight. D

Day 4 Mon Sightseeing of Kathmandu, Swyambhu, and Durbar Square. BD

Day 5 Tue Begin journey to the "Roof of the World"- Tibet. The epitome of all that is magical, mysterious and unknown. The trans-himalaya flight with magnificent views takes about an hour. Upon arrival at Gonggar Airport, transfer to the hotel in Lhasa (11,850 ft) which is about a two hour drive (100 kilometers). Hotel Lhasa. BD

Day 6 Wed Morning visit to Potala Palace- one of the wonders of the world.In the afternoon, visit Norbulingka- former summer palace of the Dalai Lamas and Sera Monastery, the second largest monastery in Tibet. BLD

Day 7 Thu Morning visit to Jokhang Temple, the oldest and most sacred temple in Tibet. Visit Barkhor Street, a bazaar famous for the Tibetan handicraft and antiques. In the afternoon, visit Drepung Monastery- the largest monastery in Tibet, and to a carpet making factory enroute. BLD

Day 8 Fri Sightseeing excursion from Lhasa. BLD

Day 9 Sat Early morning transfer to the airport for your flight back to Kathmandu via China Southwest Airlines. 
Upon Arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to the lovely Club Himalaya Hotel in Nagarkot. Located high on a mountain, this quiet resort is perfect to relax after the trip to Tibet. Rest of the day at leisure. BD

Day 10 Sun An excursion to Bhaktapur (Bhadgaon), home of medieval art and architecture. The city was founded by King Anand in 889 AD. Bhaktapur means the "city of devotees". 
A short drive brings us to the mountain resort of Dhulikel where a lovely lunch is arranged against the backdrop of the Annapurna range. BLD

Day 11 Mon You may want to get up early to watch the spectacular sunrise! After a leisurely morning, transfer to the airport for your next adventure- DRUKYUL (Land of Thunder Dragon), also known as Bhutan. Upon arrival in Paro, transfer to Hotel Druk or Hotel Olathang. BD

Bhutan is endowed with breathtaking natural beauty, surrounded by natural mountains, virgin peaks and holy lakes. Only a limited number of visitors are allowed in annually.

Day 12 Tue After sightseeing of Paro, Drugyal Dzong, Paro Museum, continue to Thimphu (2 hours), capital of Bhutan. Hotel Druk. BLD

Day 13 Wed Visit Memorial Stupa, traditional painting school, incense and paper factory, Simtokha Dzong, Tashiccho Dzong. Permission is being sought to witness the famous and elusive Bhutanese Mask dances. BLD

Day 14 Thu After breakfast, proceed to Punakha, enroute visit Chimi Lakhang, Punakha Dzong and other places of interest. Overnight at the charming and well located Hotel Zangthopelri. BLD

Day 15 Fri After breakfast visit Wangdue Phodrang Dzong and drive to Paro. Lunch at Thimphu. If time allows, visit Simtokha Dzong and Tamchogang Lhakhang. Overnight in Paro as we finish our Unique Journey to Bhutan. BLD

Day 16 Sat Early morning transfer to the airport for the Druk Air flight to Bangkok. 
Transfer to your deluxe hotel in Bangkok (Royal Orchid or similar). Free afternoon. Special Farewell Dinner planned tonight at a local
restaurant. BD

Day 17 Sun Transfer to the airport for the flight to Los Angeles and San Francisco.


Important:

U.S. Passport required. Visa required for Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan. We will arrange all. We would like to inform you that this Journey can be fairly 'rough and tough', especially to Tibet. Due to the high altitude, travelers with pre-existing problems of the heart, lungs or anemia should definitely consult their doctor before this trip. Lhasa is over 11,000 feet; the highest point reached in Bhutan is Dochula Pass (on the way to Punakha) at 10,500 feet. 

Minimum number required to operate this trip is ten (10); maximum group size is 16.

Accommodations in Tibet and Bhutan are the best available and offer clean, cozy and modest rooms with private bathrooms with running, hot water. Sightseeing and transportation arrangements in Tibet are handled by the Chinese Tibetan Authorities; in Bhutan, they are the control of Bhutan Tourism Corporation Ltd. Itinerary changes and modification are always possible and can be made at the last minute.
