Kingdoms in the Sky

Visitors, you are among the first to view the information on our latest Unique Journey to the rooftop kingdoms of Tibet, Bhutan and Nepal.

Ever since my visit to Bhutan in 1998, I have been planning a return trip to this most beautiful, peaceful "Shangri La". Combining Bhutan with Tibet and Nepal makes this truly a journey of a lifetime.

Mountains are magic. In folk traditions around the world, mountains are a place set apart from everyday life. Gods live in the mountains - so do hermits, saints, and bandits with sweeping mustachios. The mountain ranges of the world exert a special fascination for nearly every traveler, with the Himalayas perhaps the most compelling of them all. So high, so remote, so mysterious - who wouldn't want an opportunity to explore among their peaks and valleys.

We will enjoy the Royal Orchid service of Thai Airways to Bangkok on the way to Kathmandu. After a couple of days of rest in Kathmandu, we fly to Lhasa with its awe inspiring Potala Palace. Though no longer isolated in its medieval past, this small, remote country retains many of its ancient folkways, including a uniquely colorful brand of Buddhism and a striking style of mountaintop architecture.

After four days of extensive sightseeing, we return to Nepal for a couple of nights at the restful and lovely Club Himalaya Resort in Nagarkot.

The next stop, Bhutan, also known as the Land of the Thunder Dragon is one of my personal favorites. The last of the Mahayana Buddhist kingdoms, this remote, mystical country is still one of the most unspoilt places in the world. The spectacular landscapes are some of the most magnificent to be found on earth. Art, culture, unique architecture, and the most delightful people who make the soul smile...a trip to Bhutan teaches one of life and real living.

This Unique Journey will be offered again in April 2006.  Please watch for further details..........
